Giving back to people and organisations always seems like a good thing. As a company and as individuals we like to help as we have been and are being helped ourselves by others. Something we struggle with though is making the right sort of contribution. It seems silly but in terms of digital skills, participating in a forum, sharing information, publicising an event or running a session sharing your experience is difficult if you want to make sure you’re making a worthwhile contribution. There’s nothing worse than adding or running something that has run or been said a million times before or is old research. Yes there will always be a new audience for somethings but it is important to check you’re hitting the right area and the people you are trying to help want what you’re offering. So do your research look back of the history of a forum, make sure you ask what an organisation might want and your contribution will hit the right spot!
