This month everyone is being encouraged to give up social media as it’s seen as addictive. Despite the bad press there are some benefits of using social media particularly for networking. Family and friends who have lost contact or live a long way from each other can reconnect and form online relationships sharing activities and achievements. Charities can connect easily with a wider audience increasing their revenue and attracting more volunteers. When people are having a crisis they can ask for help from a bigger range of people. And the most interesting benefit is that some people may feel less isolated. There’s even a study being completed in Australia about this. So the jury is still out on social media networking. Like anything else you should learn how to use it responsibly and make work for you.
